江雪 The Snow-Covered River

千山鳥飛絕，

The birds from all the mountains flew away,

萬徑人蹤滅。
No trace of human foot on any way...

孤舟蓑笠翁，
An old man with a straw-hat in a lonely boat

獨釣寒江雪。
alone is fishing in the frosty river's snow.

高高低低的座座山峰，全被濛濛的雪霧籠罩，一隻飛鳥也看不到。

The high peaks and the low undulating mounds are all swallowed by the snow and mist, not a single bird is seen.

遠遠近近的條條小路，全被厚厚的積雪覆蓋，一個腳印也找不到。

The remote and near paths are all buried under thick blankets of snow, not a single trace of feet.

孤舟蓑笠翁。孤零零的一隻小船，停在寒冷的江中；船上坐著頭戴斗笠、身批蓑衣的漁翁。

"The old man with the straw-hat on a lonely boat." There is a solitary little boat, motionless in the heart of the frosty river; on it there is a fisherman sitting, with a bamboo hat on his head and a coir raincoat on his shoulders. 

獨釣寒江雪。他孤獨而專心致志地垂釣，在那冰天雪地的包裹之中！

"...alone is fishing in the frosty river's snow". In his solitude he is engrossed in his fishing in the bosom of the frosty skies and snow-covered earth!
